The brief
- Founded June 2024; Laura Deming (CEO) and Hunter Davis (CSO). $58M Series A Sept 2025 for organ cryopreservation.
- The Series A was led by Founders Fund with participation from Lux Capital and Field Ventures.
- Sept 2024 progress report showed electrical activity recovery in rewarmed rodent neural tissue.
Technical approach
Glass, not ice
Cooling to –130°C solidifies water as amorphous glass, not ice crystals. Ice crystals rupture cell membranes; glass preserves structure.
The engineering problem
Perfusion (filling organ with cryoprotectant), cryoprotectants, cooling rates, rewarming without damage, and viability assays.
No hot fluid needed
Alternating magnetic fields with nanoparticles generate uniform heat throughout the organ, avoiding temperature gradients that cause damage.
