The brief
- Bemdaneprocel is the first pluripotent stem cell-derived dopaminergic therapy in Phase III trials for Parkinson's.
- ExPDite-2 is a randomized trial of ~102 patients with target completion March 2027.
Technical approach
Starting cells with unlimited potential
Uses both embryonic and induced pluripotent stem cells as a base. These can differentiate into any cell type, including dopamine neurons.
Guiding cells to become dopamine neurons
Differentiates pluripotent cells into dopaminergic neuron precursors. Implanted in brain, they mature into functional neurons.
Off-the-shelf, not patient-specific
Uses allogeneic donor cells for central manufacturing and broader access. Immune tolerance managed by cell type and location.
