Tumours release DNA fragments and proteins into the bloodstream. One blood draw captures them along with the far larger healthy background.
The test reads cancer-type methyl tags on DNA and measures cancer-linked proteins. In one study, 45.5% of positives showed both, 47.1% DNA alone.
A positive result starts an imaging pathway to locate any cancer. An imaging assistance program helps eligible patients pay for the scans.
