Waymo begins public driverless rides in Las Vegas
Waymo opened driverless rides to the public in Las Vegas across nearly 24 square miles, from Boulder Junction through the Strip to Sahara Avenue, plus Spring Valley and Winchester. Most of the Las Vegas fleet is Waymo's new Ojai vehicle with its sixth-generation driving system, and more than 100,000 people had signed up to ride.
- Destinations include Allegiant Stadium and The Venetian; the airport was not listed.
- Las Vegas joins Denver and San Diego as cities where most of Waymo's fleet is the Ojai, a purpose-built van with a roomier cabin.
- Competition is dense: Zoox already charges fares in Las Vegas and Tesla and Uber also hold county permits.
