Uniswap introduces permissioned pools on v4, built with hooks
Uniswap introduced Permissioned Pools, a standard built on v4 hooks (custom code attached to a pool) that checks whether a wallet is on an issuer's approved list before any swap or deposit. That lets regulated assets such as tokenised shares and funds, which may only be held by vetted investors, trade in automated pools. The Uniswap protocol stays permissionless; only individual pools can opt in to the checks.
- The hook checks an issuer-managed allowlist before each swap and before anyone adds liquidity, and gives issuers the admin controls regulated assets require.
- The restricted tokens stay in a dedicated permissioned contract; v4's internal accounting runs the swap maths without moving them into the open pool.
- Launch partners: Superstate (tokenised equities and funds), Securitize (its DS Protocol tokens) and Dowgo (ERC-3643 tokens).
- Dowgo plans to deploy once it is authorised under the EU's DLT Pilot Regime. No chains or launch dates were given.
