The Lancet publishes Phase 2 results of CagriSema in type 2 diabetes
The Lancet published a 92-patient Phase 2 trial of CagriSema (weekly semaglutide + cagrilintide) in type 2 diabetes. Over 32 weeks A1C fell 2.2 points (similar to semaglutide alone at 1.8) but weight fell 15.6% versus 5.1% on semaglutide and 8.1% on cagrilintide, supporting Phase 3 trials.
- CagriSema = GLP-1 (semaglutide) + amylin analogue (cagrilintide); synergistic weight loss from dual action.
- A1C reduction similar to semaglutide alone, but weight loss substantially higher (15.6% vs 5.1%).
- Study duration 32 weeks; patients on metformin ± SGLT2i at baseline.
- Profile supports Phase 3 development; differentiator is weight loss advantage over GLP-1 monotherapy.
