Supermicro begins shipping Vera Rubin NVL72 racks to customers

NVIDIAVera Rubin

Supermicro said it has started shipping NVIDIA's Vera Rubin NVL72 racks, moving NVIDIA's next AI platform from demonstrations into customer deployments. Each rack works as one large computer: 72 Rubin GPUs and 36 Vera CPUs linked by NVLink switches, delivered with Supermicro's liquid-cooling and power infrastructure. Supermicro did not disclose volumes, prices, customers or delivery dates.

  • Per rack: 20.7 TB of HBM4 memory on the GPUs plus up to 54 TB of LPDDR5X, in 18 compute trays and nine sixth-generation NVLink switch trays.
  • Supermicro's reference building block links 16 racks: 1,152 Rubin GPUs and 331 TB of HBM4 within a 5 MW power envelope.
  • Cooling is direct liquid cooling (Supermicro's DLC-2): cold plates on the chips, coolant distribution units and rear-door heat exchangers.
  • This is a vendor shipping update; it does not confirm broad availability or a specific customer's deployment.
