Stegra finishes installing all 37 thyssenkrupp nucera electrolysis modules at its Boden green steel plant
thyssenkrupp nucerascalum alkaline electrolyser
Stegra completed installation of the 37 electrolyser modules that form its hydrogen plant in northern Sweden, a job begun in May 2025. The modules, assembled in Tarragona, Spain, arrived in more than 800 containers. The hydrogen will reduce iron ore for steelmaking; next come pre-commissioning and commissioning.
- Set to be Europe's largest green hydrogen plant, around 700 MW.
- Housed in four buildings at the Boden site.
- The steel plant is designed for 2.4 million tonnes a year.
- Stegra was seeking about EUR 1B more funding to finish the project.
