Sierra and Meta propose the Personal Agent Protocol, an open standard for personal AI agents dealing with businesses

Sierra and Meta introduced an open protocol that lets a consumer's personal AI agent identify itself to a company, access an account with permission and complete tasks. Genesys, Instinct, Rocket, Shopify, Stripe and Walmart are developing it with them.

• Built on OAuth: an agent can start as a guest, then get read-only or write access once the customer signs in.
• Companies can connect agents through their website, APIs built on MCP or OpenAPI, or their own agent.
• A v0.1 specification was due later in October 2026, open for anyone to implement.
