Shanghai Superconductor signs ¥2.5B Pudong base to make at least 15,000 km of superconducting tape a year

At Shanghai's 2025 Global Investment Promotion Conference, Shanghai Superconductor's production and headquarters base was one of 21 key industrial projects signed. The ¥2.5B site in Pudong is billed as the world's first industrial-scale base for second-generation superconducting tape, with production, product R&D and line R&D under one roof.

• Planned capacity: at least 15,000 km of tape a year, more than ten times 2024 capacity.
• Investment: ¥2.5B, on a site of about 100 mu in Pudong's Xiupu Road area.
• Later listed among Shanghai's major construction projects for 2025.
