Rocket Lab Secures 20-Launch Contract With Synspective for Earth Observation Satellites
Rocket Lab announced a multiyear commercial agreement with Tokyo-based Earth observation company Synspective for 20 dedicated Electron launches scheduled annually from 2028 through 2031. This is Rocket Lab's largest commercial contract for the all-composite Electron, bringing Synspective's total Electron missions to 47, the most of any Rocket Lab customer. The launches will deploy Synspective's StriX synthetic aperture radar satellites to sun-synchronous orbit to support the company's plan to image any location on Earth within hours, day or night, in any weather.
- Synspective will conduct 20 new launches starting 2028 through 2031, with rockets deploying StriX SAR satellites for a constellation capable of imaging Earth with all-weather capability.
- This is Rocket Lab's largest commercial Electron contract to date, and Synspective becomes the company's top launch customer with 47 total Electron missions.
- The agreement supports Rocket Lab's statement that its launch backlog has exceeded 100 missions after a series of multiyear contracts in 2026.
- Synspective's constellation strategy aims to deliver rapid revisit capability and all-weather imaging, a capability SAR satellites provide that optical systems cannot.
- The multiyear contract provides Synspective long-term certainty for its constellation expansion in the competitive Earth observation market.
