Rivian unveils custom RAP1 processor and Gen 3 autonomy platform at Autonomy & AI Day
RivianRivian Autonomy Platform (RAP1)
At its inaugural Autonomy and AI Day on December 11, Rivian unveiled the RAP1, a custom 5nm processor integrating compute and memory for autonomous driving. The processor powers the ACM3 (Autonomy Compute Module 3), delivering 1,600 sparse INT8 TOPS and processing 5 billion pixels per second. Rivian plans hands-free highway driving on R2 starting late 2026, with lidar integration arriving in 2027.
- RAP1 is a custom 5nm processor with 800 TOPS per chip; two chips deliver 1,600 TOPS in the ACM3
- ACM3 processes 5 billion pixels per second for vision-based autonomous driving
- Hands-free highway driving planned for R2 starting late 2026
- Lidar integration for customers planned for 2027
