Redwood says its energy storage systems meet a new safety benchmark
Redwood MaterialsRedwood Energy
Redwood's energy storage systems built from used EV packs passed the UL 9540A fire test, the industry benchmark for battery energy storage safety. Fire did not spread to neighbouring units and deflagration risk was fully mitigated. UL Solutions called it the first large-scale fire test of repurposed EV batteries, showing they can meet the same bar as new ones.
- Passed Installation Level Large Scale Fire Test under UL 9540A 6th Edition (most demanding standard to date).
- No fire propagation to adjacent units; deflagration risk fully mitigated even in extreme scenarios.
- First large-scale fire test of repurposed EV batteries; demonstrates second-life batteries meet new safety bar equivalent to new batteries.
