Redwood and GM signed a non-binding memorandum to build energy storage systems from both new US-made GM batteries and used GM EV packs under Redwood Energy, launched in June 2025 to power data centres and the grid. Redwood operates a 12 MW, 63 MWh second-life battery site in Sparks, Nevada.
- Non-binding MOU to accelerate energy storage deployments using new US-manufactured GM batteries and second-life used GM EV packs.
- Redwood Energy launched June 2025 to deploy both used EV packs and new modules into fast, low-cost energy storage for AI data centres and grid applications.
- Nevada facility (12 MW, 63 MWh) currently powers Crusoe's modular AI data centre at an energy cost lower than grid power.
