QuEra wins a ¥6.5B contract to deliver a quantum computer to Japan's AIST

QuEra ComputingAquila and gate-based systems

Japan's AIST awarded QuEra a ¥6.5 billion (about $41 million) contract for a gate-based neutral-atom quantum computer to be installed in 2025 next to AIST's NVIDIA-powered ABCI-Q supercomputer. This became QuEra's first machine installed outside its own lab, pairing quantum and classical computing on one site.

  • ¥6.5B (~$41M USD) contract for gate-based neutral-atom system with dynamic qubit manipulation and error correction.
  • Installation scheduled for 2025; integrated with AIST's NVIDIA ABCI-Q supercomputer for hybrid quantum-classical computing.
  • First QuEra system installed outside its own lab; creates powerful hybrid platform for AI, energy, biology applications.
  • Room-temperature operation with qubit shuttling and quantum error detection/correction capabilities.
