Oklo breaks ground on its first Aurora powerhouse at Idaho National Laboratory
Oklo broke ground on 22 September 2025 on Aurora-INL, its first Aurora powerhouse at Idaho National Laboratory—a 75 MWe liquid-metal-cooled fast reactor being built under the DOE Reactor Pilot Program. Oklo is aiming for commercial operation around 2028.
- Aurora-INL is a sodium-cooled fast reactor using metal fuel.
- Design based on Experimental Breeder Reactor II (1964-1994).
- Expected to create ~370 temporary jobs and 70-80 permanent positions.
- Oklo completed two of four DOE authorization steps for fuel fabrication facility.
