NVIDIA launches Earth-2, a cloud platform for AI weather and climate simulation, with the CorrDiff model
NVIDIA launched Earth-2 at GTC, a cloud platform for simulating and visualising weather and climate with AI, offered as APIs on its DGX Cloud. Its CorrDiff generative model turns coarse forecasts into sharp local detail, aiming for forecasts in seconds where CPU-based models take minutes or hours.
- NVIDIA says CorrDiff gives 12.5 times the resolution of numerical models, 1,000 times faster and with 3,000 times less energy.
- Taiwan's Central Weather Administration planned to use it to pin down where typhoons make landfall.
- The Weather Company planned to link its Weatherverse tools to NVIDIA Omniverse.
- Early adopters named: Spire, Meteomatics, Tomorrow.io, north.io and ClimaSens.
