Nine projects chosen to prepare day-one science on Discovery
Oak Ridge National LaboratoryDiscovery
Oak Ridge picked nine science codes, spanning astrophysics, molecular biology, quantum chemistry and aerospace engineering, to tune for Discovery ahead of its 2028 arrival. The teams work with a joint ORNL, HPE and AMD centre of excellence so their programs run three to five times faster than on Frontier.
- Nine projects selected through the Center for Accelerated Application Readiness (CAAR).
- Target: 3-5x the speed each code reaches on Frontier.
- Matt Sieger is the Discovery project director; Reuben Budiardja leads CAAR programming.
