NIH awards $7M grant to expand TRIAD rapamycin trial in aging dogs

Dog Aging ProjectTRIAD (Test of Rapamycin in Aging Dogs)

The National Institutes of Health awarded a $7 million grant to expand the TRIAD trial, a randomized double-blind placebo-controlled study testing rapamycin in 580 middle-aged dogs. Led by Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences, the study aims to determine whether rapamycin, a molecule that extends lifespan in mice, can do the same in naturally aging companion animals, with implications for human aging research.
