NEJM published results from the PRIMAvera trial of PRIMA, a light-powered subretinal chip paired with camera glasses that restored functional central vision in geographic atrophy patients. Eighty per cent of patients achieved meaningful gains in visual acuity and could read letters, numbers and words; the mean improvement was 25.5 letters on the visual acuity chart.
