Muse adds Smart Wakeup, an alarm that uses live EEG to wake users from lighter sleep
Muse announced Smart Wakeup, launching April 15, 2026. Users set a 30 to 60 minute window; the headband watches brainwaves and sounds a gradual alarm when it detects lighter sleep, or at the latest time set. It needs a premium subscription and also works on older Muse S models.
- Internal analysis of about 6,200 nights from about 1,300 users linked waking from lighter sleep to better morning mood.
- Requires Muse Premium; works with Muse S Gen 1, Gen 2 and Athena.
- Planned next: Sleep Goal Wake, Dream Retention Mode and Hypnopompic Audio.
