MetaMask announces mUSD, a wallet-native stablecoin issued by Stripe's Bridge on Ethereum and Linea
MetaMask said it would launch its own dollar stablecoin, mUSD, issued by Stripe-owned Bridge and minted through M0's infrastructure, making it the first self-custody wallet with its own stablecoin. It is backed 1:1 by US cash and short-dated Treasuries, whose interest can fund wallet features.
- Launch networks: Ethereum and ConsenSys's Linea; it went live on Sept 15, 2025.
- Users can buy, hold, swap, send and bridge mUSD inside MetaMask.
- Spending via the Mastercard-based MetaMask Card was planned to follow.
