Latent Labs, founded by AlphaFold 2 alumnus Simon Kohl, launches with $50M

Latent Labs came out of stealth with $50 million, a $10M seed plus a $40M Series A co-led by Radical Ventures and Sofinnova Partners. Founder Simon Kohl worked on AlphaFold 2 and co-led DeepMind's protein design team; the company will partner with drug makers rather than develop its own drugs.

• Angels include Jeff Dean, Aidan Gomez and Mati Staniszewski.
• Model work in London; wet lab and protein design team in San Francisco.
• Incorporated in London in mid-2023; about 15 staff at launch.
