Kioxia samples 1Tb chips on 332-layer BiCS FLASH 10, aimed at AI data-centre SSDs
Kioxia began shipping samples of 1-terabit TLC chips made with its 10th-generation BiCS FLASH, which stacks 332 layers of cells and bonds the control logic from a separate wafer. The chips target enterprise and data-centre SSDs for AI and will be made at Kitakami Fab2 in Iwate.
- 332 layers; bit density up 59% vs the 8th generation
- Interface speed 4.8 Gb/s, up 33%
- Write power efficiency up 18%, read up 30%
- Runs beside a cheaper 9th-generation track that reuses existing tools
