StoryPartnership
IonQ and SDT partner to bring quantum computing and quantum networking to the Asia-Pacific region
IonQ signed a multi-year partnership with SDT, a South Korean quantum hardware and integration company, which is buying a Superion 256 computer and an IonQ silicon-vacancy quantum memory module. SDT will build a facility in Gumi, South Korea, to assemble and commission IonQ systems and to package and manufacture the memory modules, making it a regional hub for IonQ's supply chain.
- Quantum memory stores qubit states so they can be relayed across a network, a building block for linking quantum computers.
- The deal extends an earlier cloud software tie-up into hardware production and regional resale.
- The two also plan hybrid quantum-classical data centers in Asia-Pacific and a separate cancer research center project.
- Superion 256 deliveries start in 2027, so the Korean system is not yet installed.
