Intel unveils Horse Ridge, a cryogenic chip to control many qubits from inside the fridge

Intel/Silicon spin qubits

Intel and QuTech (TU Delft and TNO) unveiled Horse Ridge, a control chip that operates inside the quantum computer's refrigerator instead of external racks. Moving control next to the qubits replaces many cables, laying groundwork for controlling thousands of qubits.

• Cryogenic controller operates at temperatures inside the quantum fridge, eliminating external wiring
• Replaces thousands of cables and external control racks with single integrated chip
• Designed as foundation for systems controlling thousands or potentially millions of qubits
