Intel introduces Horse Ridge II, adding qubit readout to its cryogenic controller
Intel introduced Horse Ridge II, a cryogenic control chip made on 22 nm and verified at 4 kelvin, that can read qubit states and control entanglement gates. Adding readout on-chip cuts latency and wiring, reducing the thousands of cables previously needed.
- Horse Ridge II adds qubit readout capability alongside RF pulse generation from first generation
- Enables simultaneous multigate pulsing for entangling and operating multiple qubits at scale
- Eliminates need for external racks and thousands of cables; enables path to controlling thousands of qubits
