Google and SUNY launch AI research platform for university researchers
Google Public Sector and the State University of New York launched a unified AI and high-performance computing environment on Google Cloud. The platform debuts on nine research-intensive SUNY campuses and provides access to storage, computing, over 200 trusted AI models, and Gemini Enterprise in one ecosystem. SUNY researchers are already using it for weather prediction, water quality detection, DNA sequencing for cancer treatment, and high-resolution brain imaging for diagnosis.
- Covers nine SUNY research-intensive campuses at launch
- Integrated environment: storage, HPC, 200+ AI models, Gemini Enterprise, no per-campus assembly needed
- Application domains: weather prediction, water quality, cancer genomics, diagnostic imaging
- Skills component: free Google AI credentials to students and faculty, 5-10 hour courses embedded in academic programs
- Designed for researchers across technical backgrounds; consistent governance and responsible AI practices
