Form Energy and FuturEnergy Ireland agree to build Ireland's first iron-air storage project
Form EnergyIron-air multi-day battery
Form Energy and FuturEnergy Ireland agreed to build a 10 MW / 1,000 MWh iron-air battery in northwest Ireland, Form's first project outside the US, due online in 2029. The system can discharge for about 100 hours, covering multi-day gaps in wind and solar.
- A 10 MW / 1,000 MWh iron-air system (100-hour discharge) will store renewable power and dispatch during wind/solar gaps.
- This is Form Energy's first international deployment, validating iron-air storage for European grid decarbonization and renewable integration.
- Online in 2029, the plant will demonstrate multi-day storage at utility scale in Ireland's wind-heavy grid.
