Firefly signs with SSC for two Alpha launches from Esrange, Sweden
Firefly signed with Swedish Space Corporation (SSC Space) for two Alpha launches from Esrange Space Center in northern Sweden, no earlier than 2028. SSC bought the full payload capacity and will sell it to Swedish national-security and commercial rideshare customers; the deal would bring orbital launch to mainland Europe.
- Flights would go from Esrange's Launch Complex 3C, owned and operated by SSC.
- Built so far: launch control centre, payload processing, vehicle integration building and tracking systems; the pad is under construction.
- Firefly CEO Jason Kim called the two missions the start of a long-term, multi-launch partnership.
- The 2028 date depends on finishing the pad, so it is a target, not a schedule.
