Envision's off-grid Chifeng plant officially starts producing green ammonia at 320,000 t a year

After a trial phase, Envision's Chifeng plant began official production of green ammonia from its own wind and solar power, with electricity at about 0.2 yuan per kWh. Green ammonia still costs 1.2 to 2.1 times the conventional kind, and the plant ran at a loss during trials.

• Phase 1 capacity: 320,000 t a year; target 1.52 Mt a year.
• Marubeni to buy in bulk from 2026; Shandong Xianglong Group also signed up.
• A windless, sunless spell in trials forced grid power purchases.
