DOT holders approve the JAM upgrade in a near-unanimous on-chain vote

Polkadot's token holders voted almost unanimously to adopt JAM as the future of the network. JAM targets about 850 MB/s of data availability and roughly 150 billion gas per second of compute, with stateless cores that can be assigned to any service. Production use was expected to take years.

• Parachains stay supported through built-in compatibility.
• The Polkadot Virtual Machine is based on RISC-V.
• Estimated 20 to 60 months to production at the time.
