Defence Minister Rajnath Singh approves AMCA execution model opening prototype work to private firms

Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA)/AMCA (Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft)

India's defence minister approved a model in which ADA runs AMCA through an industry partner chosen competitively, with private and state companies able to bid alone, in joint ventures or consortia. It broke with the default of giving fighter work to state-owned HAL.

• Bidders must be Indian companies.
• ADA to issue an expression of interest for the development phase.
