Critical vulnerability discovered in V5 Alpha proving system
On July 27, 2026, core contributors discovered a critical flaw in the V5 Alpha proving system through AI-assisted auditing. An attacker could exploit the vulnerability to construct a proof that passes verification for a transaction the network should reject. Contributors initiated incident response work and informed operators and application teams, with V6 planned later in 2026 to address the issue.
