Circle becomes the first global stablecoin issuer licensed under the EU's MiCA rules
Circle obtained an electronic money institution licence from France's ACPR, becoming the first global stablecoin issuer to comply with the EU's Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulation, whose stablecoin provisions took effect on 30 June 2024. Circle Mint opened to European business customers to mint and redeem USDC and EURC.
