Church lab and Rejuvenate Bio founders publish combination gene therapy for multiple age-related diseases in mice (PNAS)
Rejuvenate BioCanine mitral valve disease gene therapy
Harvard researchers delivered three longevity-associated genes (FGF21, alpha-Klotho and a soluble TGF-beta receptor) by AAV to mouse models of obesity, type 2 diabetes, heart failure and kidney failure. A single formulation combining two therapies treated all four conditions, with FGF21 alone reversing obesity and diabetes, and sTGFβR2 improving heart function by 58%.
- FGF21 alone reversed weight gain and type 2 diabetes; sTGFβR2 reduced kidney atrophy by 75% in renal fibrosis.
- Heart function in heart-failure mice improved 58% with sTGFβR2 alone or combined with other genes.
- Single formulation of two therapies treated multiple conditions in one treatment.
- George Church, and co-founders Davidsohn and Daniel Oliver are Rejuvenate Bio founders pursuing dog gene therapies.
