CATL unveils the Qilin CTP 3.0 battery pack

CATL/Qilin (CTP 3.0)

CATL launched Qilin, its third-generation cell-to-pack design, claiming 72% volume utilization and up to 255 Wh/kg at pack level. The design integrates cooling plates, crossbeams and thermal pads into one elastic layer and works with both NCM and LFP cell chemistries.

• 72% volume utilization and 255 Wh/kg for ternary; 160 Wh/kg for LFP variants; 13% more power than 4680 cells
• Cooling performance: four times greater heat transfer area, half the thermal control time; enables 5-minute hot starts, 10-minute charging
• Bottom-sharing design increases battery capacity 6%; compatible with both ternary NCM and LFP chemistries; mass production 2023
