CATL, its Brunp-linked unit CBL, Indonesian state miner ANTAM and Indonesia Battery Corporation broke ground on a nearly $6B project spanning nickel mining and smelting, battery materials, cell manufacturing and recycling. The recycling plant will use Brunp's technology to recover metals from used batteries.

  • Recycling capacity about 20,000 t of used batteries a year, with metal recovery above 95%.
  • Also planned: 142,000 t of nickel and 30,000 t of cathode material a year.
  • First-phase cell plant in Karawang, West Java: 6.9 GWh a year.
  • Mining, processing and recycling sit in East Halmahera, North Maluku; over 2,000 hectares in total.
