Brunp reports 99.6% recovery of nickel, cobalt and manganese and 96.5% of lithium from used batteries

CATL's recycling subsidiary Brunp said its process recovers 99.6% of the nickel, cobalt and manganese and 96.5% of the lithium in used electric-car batteries. In 2024 it processed more than 120,000 t of waste batteries and produced 17,100 t of recycled lithium salts.

  • 2024 volume equals the batteries of roughly 200,000 to 300,000 electric cars.
  • Process: automated dismantling, acid leaching and direct conversion back to battery materials.
  • Brunp has led or helped write over 80% of China's national standards for lithium battery recycling.
