Boston Dynamics and Toyota Research Institute partner on large behaviour models for Atlas
Boston Dynamics and Toyota Research Institute began a joint research partnership pairing TRI's Large Behaviour Models with the electric Atlas. The teams aim to study how to train general-purpose humanoids for manipulation and whole-body tasks.
- Partnership combines Atlas hardware with TRI's Large Behaviour Models (LBMs) and diffusion-policy research.
- Focus: training general-purpose humanoids for manipulation and whole-body task learning.
- Co-led by Scott Kuindersma (Boston Dynamics) and Russ Tedrake (TRI); both organisations contribute equally.
- Leverages whole-body sensing and real Atlas deployment data for model development.
