Boeing wins the Air Force's NGAD sixth-generation fighter contract; the jet is named F-47
The US Air Force picked Boeing over Lockheed Martin to build its Next Generation Air Dominance fighter, the F-47, which will replace the F-22. The cost-plus development contract covers maturing and testing the design and building test aircraft, with options for early production.
