Air Force general says a full F-47 production line is 'not too far away' as Boeing's St. Louis expansion rises
Brig. Gen. Timothy Helfrich said a full F-47 production line is close, adding to US fighter output. Boeing is expanding its St. Louis site by over a million square feet, at about $1.8-2B, while one pre-production F-47 is being built ahead of a 2028 first flight.
- Expansion includes an 880,000 sq ft assembly building and a 185,000 sq ft hangar.
- Parts of the site open in 2026; full completion by 2030.
- Which engine powers early aircraft is still open; a new adaptive engine may be ready to integrate around 2030.
