Block unveils Proto Rig, a modular bitcoin miner with swappable hashboards, and free open-source Proto Fleet software

At Core Scientific's site in Dalton, Georgia, where the rigs were already mining, Block launched Proto Rig and Proto Fleet. The rig is built to last a decade by swapping hashboards instead of replacing whole machines, and the fleet software is free and open source for any miner.

• Up to 819 TH/s from nine swappable hashboards, as low as 14.1 J/TH air-cooled.
• Block says 1.5x the power per foot of rack space and 15-20% lower cost per upgrade cycle.
• Repairs are tool-free and done in place, in seconds rather than days.
• Proto Fleet bundles power scaling, monitoring, diagnostics and maintenance at no cost.
