Block agrees to supply Core Scientific with 3 nm bitcoin mining chips worth about 15 EH/s

Block named Core Scientific as the first customer for the 3 nm mining chip built by its Proto team, in a deal covering about 15 EH/s of hashing power. That would have raised Core's energized hashrate by about 60%, making it one of the largest mining-chip orders announced.

• Chips designed by Block's Proto team on a 3 nm process; the chip design was finished in April 2024.
