BETA Completes Radiopharmaceutical Delivery Test Operations under FAA eIPP
BETA Technologies completed five days of flight operations in Utah on October 7, 2026, as part of the FAA's eVTOL Integration Pilot Program (eIPP). The company tested its all-electric ALIA CTOL aircraft for time-sensitive medical cargo delivery, specifically radiopharmaceuticals, in partnership with Alpine Air, the Utah Department of Transportation, and 47G. Radiopharmaceuticals contain radioactive isotopes that decay rapidly—fluorodeoxyglucose loses half its strength in 110 minutes—making fast delivery critical for medical treatment.
- Completed five days of eIPP operations in Utah using all-electric ALIA CTOL aircraft for radiopharmaceutical transport
- Partnership with Alpine Air, UDOT, and 47G to evaluate electric aircraft as complement to conventional air transport
- Addressing time-sensitive medical cargo delivery: radiopharmaceuticals decay rapidly, making speed critical
- Data collection on flight time, reliability, charging, weather, and cost to demonstrate where electric aircraft add measurable value
- BETA participating in seven of eight FAA-selected eIPP programs nationwide; earlier operations in Virginia, Maryland, Louisiana, Texas, North Carolina
