BEST construction begins; China accelerates fusion engineering toward 2030 power generation target

The Institute of Plasma Physics officially began construction of BEST (Burning Plasma Experimental Superconducting Tokamak) in Hefei, marking China's major push toward burning plasma physics. The project targets scientific breakeven (Q≥1) with long-pulse D-T operation and aims for net electricity generation by around 2030.
