Aspen reports 12-month ASPIRO data: patient-derived dopamine cells improve Parkinson's symptoms without immunosuppression

Aspen NeuroscienceSasineprocel (ANPD001)

In a late-breaking talk at AD/PD 2026, Aspen showed one-year results for the first eight patients given dopamine-neuron precursors grown from their own skin cells. Both dose groups gained roughly two hours a day of good symptom control and better motor scores, and PET scans showed the grafts survived. There were no serious surgical complications and no severe graft-induced movement problems.

  • Good ON time +2.1 h (low dose) and +2.4 h (higher dose); motor score (OFF) -15.5 and -13.5 points.
  • Quality-of-life (PDQ-39) improved 51.6% and 28.5%; several patients cut levodopa.
  • Doses of 5 to 10 million cells per hemisphere, delivered under MRI guidance.
  • Open-label and uncontrolled; improvements are numerical, not statistically tested.
