Anthropic transferred the Model Context Protocol to the Agentic AI Foundation, a new directed fund under the Linux Foundation co-founded by Anthropic, Block, and OpenAI with backing from Google, Microsoft, AWS, Cloudflare, and Bloomberg. MCP has grown to 97 million monthly SDK downloads and powers 75 Claude connectors.
