Anthropic acquires Bun, the JavaScript runtime, as Claude Code passes $1B in annualised revenue

Anthropic acquired Bun, an all-in-one JavaScript and TypeScript toolkit founded by Jarred Sumner in 2021, to accelerate Claude Code. Claude Code hit $1B in run-rate revenue in November 2025, just six months after launching publicly.

• Bun combines runtime, package manager, bundler, and test runner; receives 7M monthly downloads and 82,000 GitHub stars.
• Claude Code's major enterprise customers include Netflix, Spotify, KPMX, L'Oreal, and Salesforce.
• Bun remains open source under the MIT license after the acquisition.
