Anduril opens full-rate solid rocket motor plant in Mississippi, becoming a third US supplier

Anduril opened a full-rate solid rocket motor plant in McHenry, Mississippi, ending decades in which only Aerojet Rocketdyne and Northrop Grumman made these motors in the US. Demand rose sharply with the wars in Ukraine and the Middle East, and motor supply has limited missile output.

• Target: 6,000 motors a year by the end of 2026.
• More than 700 motors test-fired since January 2024.
• Anduril claims its aluminium-lithium fuel blend adds about 40% range.
• It entered the business in 2023 by buying Adranos.
